Represents Progress Rail in contacting customers within a defined territory regarding Kershaw Vegetation Management Equipment, products and services.

Responsible for managing utility contractor, forestry/tree care, landscape/land clearing, and roadside maintenance accounts.

Education / Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or equivalent;

MBA preferred;

• 3+ years of experience in commercial or agricultural

equipment sales, preferably in the vegetation management,

landscape, or forestry industries.

Key Job Elements:

• Prospects for new opportunities for Kershaw Vegetation

Management Equipment products;

• Conducts product presentations to customers with

technical support;

• Acts as liaison between Progress Rail’s operations,

accounting, engineering, and other departments that

request assistance with customers within coverage area;

• Develops and implements effective sales strategies for

new and existing customer accounts;

• Provides marketing intelligence for current sales and

future growth;

• Develops and maintains strong customer relationships to

understand and anticipate their needs;

• Provides weekly sales updates, including tracking of all

opportunities;

• Travels to customer sites;

• Participates in trade shows;

• Supports post-sales activities, including product deliver,

customer follow-up, and A/R collection;

• Creates and presents quotations and proposals to

customers;

• Aggressively follows up on open quotes and works to

close business opportunities;

• Utilizes the Salesforce platform to create quotations,

enter weekly call reports, and manage customer

accounts;

• Negotiates contracts with the assistance of the legal and

compliance departments;

• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with

others;

• High level of creativity and analytical ability to assess,

identify, and facilitate alternate courses of action to

mitigate project risk;

• Working knowledge of internal departments and

relationships;

• Assertive leadership for directing sales efforts and

support requirements;

• Well-developed oral and written communications skills;

working knowledge of PC applications – Word,

Excel, and PowerPoint;

• Significant domestic travel required (50+ percent);

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with

customers, suppliers, and internal departments;

• Working knowledge of Salesforce preferred.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions

• Strength – Ability to travel without restrictions and

minimal lifting requirement. Frequent sitting.

Occasional standing, walking. Capable of climbing into

elevated cab equipment maintaining three points of

contact;

• Motion – Employee will be moving during travel and

sitting when in the office;

• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant

communications, including both talking and hearing;

• Work Environment – Employee will be traveling a

minimum of 50% of the time, which will expose them to

different outdoor conditions (customer jobsites and/or

offices). The balance of the time, they will be

working in an office setting;

• Emotional Demands – Ability to lead and communicate

with customers and team members. Ability to

work with a team to accomplish the mission;

• Safety – Position is primarily limited to general office

safety requirements. Position requires regular

travel. The employee will occasionally be at construction

sites, which may require use of PPE.
