Job Purpose:

Responsible for scheduling jobs and controlling the quality and distribution of output. Work involves a number of technical duties calling for the ability to make decisions within the limits of general practices and procedures. Independent judgment is used, however there is some direct guidance from supervisor. Occasional instructing, training or assigning of work to small groups of employees engaged in semi-complex work.

Key Job Elements:

• Work with functional areas to develop and maintain both a P6 Primavera customer schedule and a MS Project schedule for the locomotive business;

• Schedule projects from a milestone, resources, and task standpoint;

• Breakdown scope into a WBS, assign costs to tasks, perform EVM;

• Report on project status and resource availability in support of Project Management;

• Maintain accurate records/paperwork while prioritizing and managing multiple project assignments;

• Participate on project teams and help in the development of work around plans for the critical path activities, if required;

• Prepares weekly reports and analysis of project activities as required on a project.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

• MS Project, P6 Primavera or Scheduling Software experience is a must;

• Understands Critical Path Methodology;

• Self-motivated with attention to detain;

• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others;

• High analytical ability where problems are difficult or complex;

• Ability to organize, plan, and document systems;

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications;

• Knowledge of project management concepts.

Preferred:

• One (1) to three (3) years of project scheduling experience;

• PMP, CAPM and/or PMI-SP Certification(s);

• Familiarity with risk assessment analysis including both qualitative and quantitative.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

• Strength – Position typically involves work in a standard office environment. Occasional standing and walking. Heavy lifting is rare but may be required;

• Motion – Position regularly requires standard repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associated with office communications. May require bending, lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, walking, etc. in cases where Safety investigations require them;

• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;

• Work Environment – Position may involve occasional work in a non-temperature-controlled facility. Position will require occasional visits to industrial environment, including potential for noise (85+ decibels), frequent exposure to cold and temperature changes, exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment, high levels of dust, and other hazardous working conditions. May be required to remain for long periods of time in hazardous work environments to investigate and mitigate accidents / incidents;

• Emotional Demands – Responsible for audits and reporting. Requires interpersonal skills and communication;

• Safety – Position required to follow all safety guidelines and requirements.
